Upcoming OroPlatform feature preview: Record Activities Widget

November 21, 2014 | Artem Liubeznyi

Today we continue with the preview of upcoming features of the future 1.5 release with the freshly merged Record Activities Widget—a feature that gives you a nice and convenient UI for the recently increased family of activities added to a record.

The Record Activities Widget replaces the Record Activity block (seen below in Figure 1), where activities were listed by their type in separate tabs. Displaying activities in this way did not allow to get a single chronological view across all the Record Activities.

The Record Activity Widget puts all record activities—emails, calls, tasks, calendar events, etc—in a single paginated list, as shown in Figure 2.

Figure 2. Record Activities Widget in upcoming 1.5 version displays all activities together in a single place.

This widget displays activities in a very condensed form, showing you only the most relevant information at first—but a simple click on the activity record will expand it to reveal more details if you need it. The widget conveniently places the most recent and therefore the most relevant activities on top, so a single glance brings you up to speed with the particular account or business opportunity. You may also easily filter the list by activity type or by date range to see the exact activities you need right now with just a few clicks.

If you happen to find any issues with this feature (remember, this is a preview version), please report them on our OroPlatform GitHub page. And as always, we look forward to hearing your feedback and comments in our forums.
