Last month, we gave you a sneak peek of what to expect during this year’s OroCommerce 4.2 LTS. Now, we want to provide you with a more in-depth look into this release and showcase our new features and capabilities in detail.
That’s why our leadership team will host a live demo of OroCommerce 4.2 LTS on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at 8 a.m. PST / 5 p.m. CET. We’ll dive into the latest improvements, answer your questions, and explore use cases where our solutions can help.
Here are just some of the improvements you can expect:
An updated, more accessible storefront. OroCommerce storefront now complies with web accessibility requirements (ADA and WCAG). Improvements include support for voice readers and keyboard navigation.
Navigation improvements. Site visitors will find it easier (and faster) to browse, shop, and place orders. We’ve improved the storefront navigation structure and responsiveness.
New filter panel. Customers can better sort and filter items to locate what they are looking for. The new filter panel allows them to narrow down results by appropriate criteria.
Enhanced content editing. The WYSIWYG content editor is more intuitive to use with updated supporting documentation. The content preview function now supports user impersonation and separate (and localized) storefronts.
New shopping list interface. Manage large orders more efficiently with a new shopping list page. Save time with bulk actions and permission-based views.
Improved checkout experience. Both the single-page checkout page and the multi-step checkout workflow received multiple performance improvements and were optimized for handling large orders.
Back-office improvements. Back-office staff will appreciate the speed with which they’ll be able to perform their daily customer, product and content management tasks.
We’ve also optimized OroCommerce’s API performance, enabled new authentication options, and improved the integration connectors performance.
Our documentation website navigation was also improved and provides easy access to plenty of new content.

How to prepare for your 4.2 LTS move
Make sure you familiarize yourself with the minimum requirements needed for installing and using OroCommerce 4.2 LTS. If you’re on the Enterprise Edition, you’ll need the following:
- PHP 7.4.14
- PostgreSQL 12.0
- Composer v2
- PHP MongoDB extension
Note that the Community Edition supports MySQL 8.0 in place of PostgreSQL 12.0. For the full list of system requirements and recommendations for best performance, please refer to OroCommerce system requirements page.
Don’t forget about our release cycles and sunset dates. Some older OroCommerce versions have been transitioned to their next support phases. The full schedule is published on the release process documentation page.
If you’re on the Enterprise Edition 4.1 LTS, access to security updates and fixes will last until January 2023 – giving you plenty of time to switch. Community Edition users should switch to the 4.2 LTS version as soon as possible to access patches through the year ahead.
In the meantime, we can’t wait to meet you, answer your questions, and assist you through another OroCommerce milestone.
