What’s New In OroCommerce 5.0?
This release is all about offering your B2B customers the best purchasing experience possible. In addition, back-office staff has even more productivity tools and integration options than ever. And, we upgraded the stability, scalability, and security of the tech stack. This includes updates to Symfony 5.4 LTS, PHP 8, PostgreSQL 13/MySQL 8, optimized databases, and an enhanced API.
Improved Customer Experiences
Lighting-fast speed and performance
Faster loading, high-quality images
We now support the WebP image format out of the box. Get JPEG-quality images that load in a fraction of the time. Intelligent processing serves images based on the format supported by the user’s browser. Each customer gets the fastest loading image for their individual experience.
Fully accessible for all users
OroCommerce 5.0 is fully compatible with screen readers and other assistive technology. The storefront and back-office comply with WCAG and ADA requirements. Customers and staff with visual and physical impairments will appreciate on-screen elements such as search autocomplete, captions, and larger, cleaner text and keyboard-optimized navigation.
Downloadable search and filtered results
Customers can download their search to an Excel spreadsheet for later review or share the file with team members offline. The power’s still in your hands – you control what product attributes can be exported as the feature is completely customizable.
Saved searches and notifications keep customers updated
Customers can now save their searches and be notified when new products arrive or stock status changes. It’s the easiest way to grow repeat purchases, average order values, and lure back lost customers.
Control onsite search with weighted attributes
Control the order of products included in the onsite search results with weighted attributes. Assign weights to attributes such as product description or SKU to prioritize listings in site search results. Promote items that sell frequently, have higher inventory, or have high ratings from users.
RTL language support for enhanced localization
Expand your reach with localization for right-to-left (RTL) languages. Full support on the frontend and backend for RTL languages such as Hebrew, Farsi, Arabic, Pashto, and Urdu conforms the language and the layout for a truly localized UX. Buyers can navigate, research, and shop, while staff can perform any back-office function necessary in a comfortable to use format. All this translates to greater trust, engagement, and ultimately sales.
Empower Staff with New Productivity Tools
Microsoft Office 365 integration
Full integration with Microsoft Office 365 lets team members spend less time switching windows and more time building customer relationships. Single sign-on makes it easy to keep contacts, calendars, tasks, and emails in sync. Maintain visibility into Office 365 without leaving the Oro interface so employees stay informed.
What’s Improved In OroCommerce 5.0?
Up-to-date tech stack
Oro continues to rely on PHP as the server-side scripting language. This means OroCommerce is not vulnerable to Java attacks such as Log4j. In addition, we’ve updated the entire tech stack:
- Symfony 5.4 LTS
- PHP 8.1 security release
- PostgreSQL 13 / MySQL 8
- ElasticSearch 8
- NodeJS 16
- Redis 6
- MongoDB 4.4

Numerous API improvements
We continue our commitment to providing best-in-class APIs. With this release, we improved our extensive library of APIs so you can use OroCommerce to implement your headless, composable, or unified eCommerce strategies. We made numerous API improvements for both back-end and front-end and will continue to expand our APIs throughout this year.
