OroCommerce is releasing a very large update to our platform soon, and this is a sneak peek at some of the improvements we’re making to Marketplace seller onboarding. We know that as marketplaces scale they need smart rules and automation to avoid long email chains and manual processes.

Improved Seller Onboarding
A new automated product approval workflow simplifies the process of listing products on the marketplace. When Sellers upload or create new products, they are automatically routed for approval to the Marketplace Operator. The Marketplace Operator can then choose to approve, reject, or request changes to the products. This approval workflow extends to editing already published products as well. This workflow reduces human errors during the product submission process and provides sellers with a clear path to showcase their products on the marketplace.
Marketplace Operators can now share their baseline recommended prices with the Sellers as Price Attributes. Once onboarded, every Seller is clear on the baseline pricing from the beginning and by leveraging the platform’s Pricing Rules Engine, can build their own price lists.
The Marketplace Operator will have visibility into their own price lists as well as their Sellers’ price lists in the Admin.
Marketplace Operators get the ability to share their Product Family and Product Attributes structure with the Sellers. This ensures clear and user-friendly navigation on the marketplace, as well as smoother onboarding for the Sellers, as they have a clear understanding of the marketplace structure and product categorization.
Marketplace Operators can now establish and manage shipping integrations, fees, and rules for Sellers. Operators can tailor shipping costs and methods based on parameters such as warehouse proximity or partnership tier, ensuring a flexible and optimized shipping experience.
When new Sellers join the marketplace, the Shipping Cost integration is automatically activated for them, enabling them to build their own shipping prices and methods on top of the given ones. This streamlined process saves time for Operators, eliminates manual efforts, and allows Sellers to promptly onboard, and focus on building their presence on the marketplace without delays.
Seller-specific promotions
Sellers can now create and manage promotion rules for their organization and catalog. Previously, this feature was only available to marketplace owners.
Shipping Method per Seller
Buyers can choose a shipping method set by the seller for all their purchased products from this seller. This simplifies the process compared to an alternative method of selecting shipping methods individually for each item, especially when dealing with multiple items in your shopping list.
