The Pros to Know Award recognizes outstanding executives whose accomplishments offer a roadmap for other leaders looking to leverage supply chain for competitive advantage.
Unprecedented Challenges for Supply Chain
When COVID-19 was officially declared a global pandemic in March 2020, the uncertainty of the state of the economy was at an all time high. Items that were high in demand were flying off the shelves, grocery stores and cleaning supplies were going out of stock, schools went digital and a portion of the working class began working from home.
Behind the scenes, professionals in supply chain, logistics, healthcare and more worked tirelessly to help support our new normal. A study by Gartner found that supply chain leaders must adapt their strategies, investment and leadership style to ensure long-term growth. Lisa Callinan, VP team manager with the Gartner Supply Chain practice, said in a press release,
“The call to action for supply chain leaders has been seemingly clear -Survive the current turn and prepare our organization for the New Normal. However, our research shows two things to be true – survival cannot be the goal and there is no such thing as the New Normal.”
Succeeding Past the Challenges
The COVID-19 pandemic has put extreme pressure on supply chain professionals to adapt and better prepare their networks for future disruptions.
According to a study by S&P Global Market Intelligence, 80% of enterprises agree that the pandemic has provided an opportunity for companies to make procedural and/or operational changes that will better benefit the business in the long run.
Over the past year, industry leaders who work deep in the trenches of the supply chain industry have shared their expertise and have helped companies adapt to the constraints that were brought on by the pandemic.
