The Challenge

Founded in 1923, SCHNEEBERGER prides on providing innovative solutions, outstanding quality, and superior customer support to original equipment manufacturers in a variety of industries.

SCHNEEBERGER’s customer base is diverse, spanning across semiconductor, industrial machinery, automation, optical, medical, and biotechnology industries. They needed to design a strong customer-facing digital commerce strategy tailored for each.

Additionally, the plan was to automate manual processes within the service department to enhance productivity and efficiency. However, given the highly technical nature of the products and their configurations, finding a platform that was intuitive for customers and user-friendly for the back office staff was challenging.

Initially, SCHNEEBERGER considered Magento, but quickly discovered it didn’t meet their complex segmentation and automation needs to deliver the desired B2B customer experience. They ultimately decided to build their eCommerce solution on the Oro platform.

The Solution

Upon selecting Oro, SCHNEEBERGER was impressed by the array of native features available, the quick time to market, and the straightforward implementation process.

SCHNEEBERGER also appreciated Oro’s ability to simplify complex processes for both staff and customers, especially for their diverse range of products such as linear guideways, profiled guideways, bearings, racks, and slides.

The out-of-the-box capabilities enabled the company to launch their SCHNEEBERGER E-SHOP with minimal customization.

OroCommerce was able to support:

  • Dozens of product types and complex product lines
  • Configuration of unique products for customers
  • Product documentation, technical data, and specification
  • Real-time inventory status notifications
  • Multiple shopping lists management
  • Smooth self-service through a modern, intuitive website

Oro’s flexibility allowed SCHNEEBERGER to integrate with several software solutions, including Matomo for web analytics, Friendly Captcha for security protection, and CookieFirst for consent management. They integrated Novalnet’s payment gateway to support additional payment options like payment via credit card and direct debit SEPA by the mid of April 2023.

Additionally, SCHNEEBERGER praised Oro’s support team, citing their prompt response time and helpful advice whenever questions arose.

With Oro’s help, the company is confident that they’ll acquire at least 20% more new customers per year and double their sales volumes.

In the meantime, they’re actively working on enhancing their site and introducing new products to expand their digital reach!
