Why customer user is able to shop product more than the actual inventory ?

hello experts, I have a quick question.

Why customer user is able to shop product more than the actual inventory available?

the product doesnot flash any message while adding to shopping list and it shows Availability to “in stock ” while in shopping list items.

We are not limit a user to add to shopping list due to following reasons:
– from Shopping List you can create not only orders and requests for quote.
– you plan to create order and you know that the product will be available for example tomorrow, you can defer it and submit it later.

On the product grid, view you can see quite informative messages about its availability.
