How do I can use Querybuilder in oro_contact_select

Hi there,

I want to use the oro_contact_select-type in a form. At the moment you can choose from all contacts you have. But I need a possibility to shrink the entries via querybuilder or something else.

Is there anything I can do ? As I see the query_builder option is not supported.

Hi, thanks for your question.

You can simply extend Oro\Bundle\ContactBundle\Form\Type\ContactSelectType with your own type and add needed options and logic if you want to use it in new form.

If you want to overwrite existing form functionality you can create Form Type Extension https://symfony.com/doc/2.8/form/create_form_type_extension.html.

The grid works fine for the new selecttype.

But I got problems for the autocomplete section. In which parameters can I handle a data select before the searchhandler is looking for the autocomplete query.

I want that the autocomplete should search only in certain entries and not in all. I’m looking through all selecttypes in ORO but can’t find a solution.

You should overwrite search handler for your new type as well to make autocomplete work in way you need.
Initial (for Oro\Bundle\ContactBundle\Form\Type\ContactSelectType) handler is defined here – https://github.com/oroinc/crm/blob/master/src/Oro/Bundle/ContactBundle/Resources/config/services.yml#L177

It is assigned to form type via alias (alias: contacts). So you need to create and register your new handler with needed logic. And set new alias in your form type.

Alright, now the last problem is how can I put the entity, that I need for the query, into the searchhandler from my formtype on.

Is it right that I have to override the class https://github.com/oroinc/platform/blob/master/src/Oro/Bundle/FormBundle/Form/Type/OroEntitySelectOrCreateInlineType.php
and setup the handler here in this method:

I am not sure what entity do you mean. But as I can see entity class name (Contact) should be passed as a first argument to your search handler as it is done now – https://github.com/oroinc/crm/blob/master/src/Oro/Bundle/ContactBundle/Resources/config/services.yml#L180

In our CRM contacts are organized in companies. So the select type in a form should only make searchable for contacts that are in the same company. So i need pass through this specific contact or the ID from the configuration in the form type to the searchhandler.
